Recounted as a dream this morning
sipping coffee by her side
I don’t recall the rest

On a telephone pole near the nest
this morning an osprey sits
guarding the nestlings

Tiny structures at the horizon brought
together loomed enormous in
dream this morning

One more time we must love one
another or die of unshifted AM
TV boredom this morning

Poised this morning to give the nestlings
new names when a scent takes
him he speaks instead

‘My mate is near, she’ll soon be here
bearing fresh blood, flesh in her beak
for our family to share’
